First thanks to those who helped with my USB issue previously. Now I'm having an incredibly tough time figuring out how to restore a Windows 7 64 bit image.
I researched posts and tried some of the suggestions but I've been unable to restore successfully after nearly 2 days trying. Here are the symptoms...
I have a Dell XPS L501X and I'm trying to move the image from its original 500 Gb drive to a larger 750 Gb drive. The restore point I have created has three partition components when I search by "System" in the Ghost boot menu. They are,
:\Dell Utilities
:\RECOVERY
C:\OS
If you browse the restore point by Date or File, the :\RECOVERY and C:\OS appear on the same line, and :\Dell Utilities is on another line.
I have tried every known combination of settings: Set drive active, Restore original disk signature, and Restore Master Boot Record and it returns an error during the intial evaluation, "The disk layout of Disk 0 does not match the OS information"
I've tried just restoring C:\ by itself, C:\ in combination with :\RECOVERY and all three together. I'm discovering Windows 7 is a royal pain and I dearly wish I had not invested in it at this point.
Has anyone here ever successfully restored an image from one drive to another on a Windows 7 system using Ghost 15?
Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.
