Ghost-HELP copying my HDD to new SSD

I bought a new Samsung SSD 830 drive to replace my HDD on my VAIO VGN-Z540 laptop.

Followed all instructions, installed Norton Ghost and to my surprise ERROR.

List of it:

-Error EC8F17B3: Cannot complete copying of (C:\) drive.

--Cannot copy source drive to destination location.

---Error E7C30010: Device \\.\PhysicalDrive3 cannot write 3036 sectors starting at LBA 31696.

----Error EBAB03F1: The system cannot find the file specified.

---Cannot copy source drive to destination location.

----Error E7C30010: Device \\.\PhysicalDrive3 cannot write 3036 sectors starting at LBA 31696.

-----Error EBAB03F1: The system cannot find the file specified.

What can I do to solve it?It's really a **bleep** that waiting to test my SSD I've this problem.

murilo12,

Use image/restore. Have a look at these similar threads...

Or were you trying to create an image when you saw these errors?

What is an image? I just followed the instruction that came in the CD and made exactly what was on it. And surprise: ERROR.But I’m glad there’s someone trying to help me.Thanks

A recovery point.

Can you describe what you have done so far?

I pickup my SSD and the manuals.Opened the SSD Interactive manual - Laptop SSD, then installed Northon Ghost, pluged the SSD via USB cable, opened NorthonGhost Data Migration Manual, Chapter 2 Migrating your Data 2.3 Copying your drive For W7 and followed the instructions, and, surprise:ERROR as described.

Which version of Ghost are you using?

Which one came with the SSD drive 15.0.1.36526 and updated with LiveUpdate

I'm not familiar with a NorthonGhost Data Migration Manual. We use the Ghost 15 userguide.

What have you done so far?

Nothong.I’m defragmenting my HDD with perfect disk, and try again to copy it to the SSD.I’m going to look at the ghost manual. There’s a link to it ? Thanks

Brian, here is the Samsung Ghost manual in pdf.

I can't find the interactive manual.

Found the manual in the CD of Ghost software.Gonna read it.

This is a very difficult procedure and we should start from scratch.

How large is your HD?

How large is the Win7 partition?

How much Free Space is in the Win7 partition?

How large is your SSD?

Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management?

I think you may have bad sectors on the old drive.

Is that one of the reasons why your upgrading the drive, your having phsical problems with it?

Dave

My HDD is 320 gB.8.45 Recovery Zpartition. 289.64gB NTFS Healthy ( System,Boot, Page File, Primary Zpartition ) 211gB free. SSD 256 GB.

No.I don’t have physical problems with it.Just upgrading to gain speed with the flash drive.

Thanks. Don't forget the screenshot.

I like Samsung's manual better than Symantec's. Nice pictures and seems well written.

Defrag my HDD with Diskeeper, turned again the SSD, opened Ghost, voila: it worked.I hava not yet finished the job, but it seems it was my old HD that was defrag the problem, and not Ghost!Thank Y all.Murilo

If your SSD doesn't boot please post the screenshot I requested.
