My father has a drive with a 40 GB C (bootable) partition and the rest of the 200 GB is partitioned into another drive. He keeps running into out-of-space issues on C.
I'd like to "clone the drive" to another larger HD and in the process, increase the size of the C partition. Is this possible to do with Ghost? Assuming so, I have some questions.
1. Does Ghost have to be installed in order to be clone the drive or would cloning run from a bootable CD? I'm sure there is enough room on the D or E drive to install Ghost but I would hate for the install to fail because it requires space on C.
2. If Ghost has to be installed and requires space on drive C, I'll have to install Ghost on another computer then pull the drives from the existing computer and connect them to the "other" computer. I assume that it's not a problem to clone "external" meaning not part of the configured "other" computer but just as drives F and G for example and still pull over the MBR from the F drive to what will be the new C partition on the new drive?
3. In reading the manual, I realize I need to clone each partition on the drive separately. It doesn't appear as though you can specify the size of the target partition though. Am I correct or is there an undocumented way to specify the size of the target partition on the target drive? I see there is an option to take all the remaining space on the target drive but that doesn't do me any good if I want to put a second partition on the back of the drive after cloning the C partition.
Thanks
