Ghost scheduled jobs will not start

Recently I replaced my computer. On my old computer (running Windows XP Professional 32bit SP3 single user) my scheduled jobs in Norton Ghost 15 worked fine. On my new computer (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1 multi-user) my scheduled jobs will not execute!

The configuration of Norton Ghost's backup jobs are identical on both PCs, that is:

3 complete drive backup jobs

1 file and directory backup job

All these jobs are scheduled to run every Sunday at 18:00 (that is at the same time)

On my old PC, since it was installed single-user, the jobs were created by the user that was always logged in when the PC was used. Normally, the backup jobs were started when I was normally logged in. I do not know if they would run when the PC was just on and the user was logged off. All four jobs were nicely run one after each other, minimizing the total backup time when an incremental backup was created.

Now on my new PC, the backup jobs were configured by user A (an administrator account). There are two more users defined on the PC (user B and C, both regular user accounts). One of the user accounts B and C is usually logged in at the time the scheduled jobs are about to run. But none of the scheduled jobs are started at the configured time. When the PC is restarted and user B or C is logged in, Norton Ghost pops up and mentions missed backups (which is correct, since they weren't started when they should have). The logged in user can however manually start the backup jobs.

Both user B and C do not have privileges to make administrative changes (as Ghost mentions when opening the main window of the application).

What do I need to do to have Norton Ghost run the scheduled jobs at the scheduled time correctly?

Sincerely,

Marcel Versteeg

Hi bambi_nl,

Welcome to the forum,

For starters I assume that the pc time clock is right, if so you could then try clearing all the schedules and history and then reschedule your backup jobs and see if that works.

Do a trial run with one test schedule and you can then clear the history again if it works and then reschedule to suite your users.

I you read RedK's  instructions Here he explains in detail on how to clear the history and schedules.

Thank you for your reply. I will try and see what happens when I reschedule the backup jobs. I will let you know what I have tried and what happened.

I have also verified my computer time, which is correct. It even synchronizes with an NTP server, so it should be correct.

Also if you click on "Tools" and then "manage Backup Destination" and "settings" and untic the box asking to monitor the remaining space on the backup destination drive.

Hi Deric,

Eventually I only unticked the box asking to monitor the remaining space on the backup destination drive, and the backup is currently running as scheduled.

There is enough space on the destination drive, since Norton Ghost is configured to compress the image files (and empty space will not be copied as is), but the entire disc being backup up is 450Gb in total and on the destination drive I only had approx. 380Gb of free space. That is probably the reason it wouldn't start the backup jobs.

Excellent, good result.
