Ghost User Guide & KB Article Enhancements

Ghost 14 and Ghost 15 User Guides need more detail on how to restore multiple partitions to a blank Hard Disc and how to backup all partitions simultaneously for a future bare metal HD restoration, including ALL hidden partitions. Most OEM PCs have several partitions like my HP with (1) OS C:, (2) Recovery D:, (3) Tools (hidden) and (4) System (hidden) partition. In addition to User Guide enhancements, we need a Knowledge Base Article that includes screen-shots of EVERY step (where to click, etc.) used in the Recovery Environment to restore each additional partition as it came from the Factory. If we have to manually restore individual partitions, we need to know in what order (like OS C: first), where the partitions need to be located relative to each other and how to format these partitions since some may need to be different, both NTFS and FAT32. The User Guide could refer to the KB Article by number to minimize User Guide revisions.  Disaster recovery from Hard Disc failure is the main reason to own Ghost, so provide this information ASAP.

Thanks for your support on this important issue Dick. Here's some more guidance for the Documentation enhancements.

I tried to attach screen-shots to help illustrate needed improvements, but this website will not allow attachments with .png, .jpg, .jpeg or .gif file extensions. Norton should allow those as they are very common formats for saving screen-shots. Please make that change.

The next most important reason for owning Ghost is to restore a virus or otherwise corrupted OS (C:) partition. I've done this on several occasions with WinXP, Vista and Win7 where multiple partitions or interdependent drives are not present using Ghost's CD boot to Recovery Environment. Even that requires some user input since the default is to Restore Original Disk Signature and NOT setting the (C:) Drive Active for OS Boot. Per the User Guide, the reverse should be true, so that's what I've done, but I had to figure out even how to do that since it's not in the User Guide. Restore MBR is optional and not the default. My new HP PC raises another question in that Ghost recommends including the related System partition with my OS (C:) Image. I assume both should be restored under this scenario, so what are the steps in detail to accomplish that while leaving the other two partitions alone?

Here's some help for the next time you want to post images. .png is supported [ that's what my badge is]

Stay well adn surf safe

Thanks again Dick. My comment referred to the option to Add Attachment under Attachments when posting. Norton needs to fix that and add .bmp as well to the file extension list I sent previously. Here are the screen-shots related to my last post. Windows Disk Management (1st) shows the relative location of partitions differently than Ghost (2nd). The 3rd shows what Ghost 15 recommends adding to the backup when One Time Backup under Tasks is selected for only the OS (C:) partition.
