Ghost14 "RPC Failed/Service Module stopped/Server exception" errors

Ghost 14.0.4.30167 on 64-bit Vista Ultimate SP1 (also NIS2009 installed).

After a MANUAL image, get a Ghost "RPC failed" error at end of a backup, then "Error 800706be...", then Ghost Service Connection Window. Occasionally get a Ghost "The server threw an exception" error.

After a SCHEDULED overnight C:\ backup, have a Windows "Service Module has stopped working and was closed" error message.  If I had two backups scheduled, the second one does not run.

Images are OK! but NO STATUS & NO HISTORY of backups, and old backups are not deleted. Also can't run two scheduled backups overnight.

C:\, D:\ & F:\ drive volumes are on one SATA HDD.  Backups go to second SATA HDD, drive G:\.  All NTFS volumes. Running chkdsk /F has no effect. Screen shots available so you can see jobs, status, recovery points, error messages. etc.

(Had an earlier Version 14 with the exact same problems.  Have done a complete uninstall (+ removing all Ghost directories), then reinstalling with latest "trial" version from the Symantec web site.)

After the scheduled overnight backups & "Service Module has stopped working....", in Windows Event log get the following:

Again, in all cases the backup images almost always verify OK (and I've had to use them to restore the C:\ drive a few times after having BIG PROBLEMS with LiveUpdate on the earlier version of Ghost14.  BUT no STATUS and no HISTORY of backups, old backups are not automatically deleted, and can't get two scheduled backups to run overnight.

I'm at a loss of what to check or try next.
