Why is it that I cannot restore my GHS/GHO files with the latest version on Win 7? This makes 0 sense. I've been a Ghost user since it came out back in 1996. As an IT administrator, restoring these images has become a serious pain in the **bleep**. I've of course got a boot stick (Bart's Boot) that networks the machine in DOS and runs an older copy of Ghost 11, but the restore time was unacceptable, so I threw the drive on my desktop, and can't find any options to restore this image to this drive!!! What gives? If Norton is trying to accomplish Acronis status, they need to include the ability to restore images in the Ghost format!!! Acronis does not only point in time restoration, but I can work with any image file created in Acronis, especially older versions!

xaneth,
The last consumer version of DOS Ghost was Ghost 2003, which was discontinued in well, 2003. The current Ghosts use a different file format. A GHO file is expected to be created and restored by a DOS app. Ghost 2003. Not by the current Ghosts which don't work in DOS.
Acronis TI backups have always used the same file extension (.tib) but I've seen reports of recent TI versions not being able to restore ealier images.
Edit.... The Enterprise version of DOS Ghost is still supported. Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.
It's interesting that Ghost 9 through 15 can still use the DOS .pqi files from powerquest drive image but they never added the ability to restore the DOS Ghost files. (9 and 10 used ghost32as an add-on).
But if you have Ghost 11, I believe that is Ghost Solution Suite 2.0.
Rather than working in DOS with Bart's DOS disk you should be using Ghost 32 from a BartPE.
You'll get much better performance and write speed in a 32bit enviroment.
