Hi, guys,
first, I got a hardware problem , wonder if you guys can help:
I have been using an external LCD monitor from LG (resolution 1920x1080) hooked to my dell inspiron 6400 laptop (windows XP sp3, the video card is ATI mobility x1400 128M) for 6 months, everything is fine. but 2 days ago I have to moved the laptop, so I disconnect the VGA cable, later moved the laptop back and hook them up again, a problem showed up:
some regions of the image on the external monitor flash (if I put on a document, the words are shaking a little bit), for example the upper right corner, and the middle section of the screen are doing this right now. and if I take the VGA cable off and put it back, the flashing region changes. but one thing for sure: Not all the screen flash, only several regions. plus the bottome of the screem seems never flash.
if I only use the own LCD screen of the inspiron 6400 (resolution 1280x800), everything is fine.
I hooked the same external LCD monitor to my old dell Latitude CPx laptop, the image is fine (sure at a lower resolution, Cpx is an old laptop). the image are stable. then I guess it may be resolution related-issue, so I hook the insprion 6400 back up to the LG lcd, just lower the external monitor resolution to 1280x1024, and the flash gone. and then tried on another Asus LCD external monitor, same thing , no flash at low resolution, like 1280x1024, but will flash at 1650x1050.
does anyone has any idea what is wrong? is that my video card bad now?
I tried to re-install the video driver, same thing.
thanks,
tao
