I am having ongoing, intermittent issues with gmail, and sometimes other email accounts. But gmail seems the worst:
1. On Mothers Day this year, I started getting emailed threats referencing my long-missing child. My child is still missing, his case was recently re-opened, and this was a horrible crime - a "mandatory life in prison" offense in the venue that holds precedence - so I do not understand the mentality behind such things. But this and other emails came into one of my personal gmail accounts, allegedly sent from another personal email account, as if I had sent it to myself. Other emailed threats referenced my government contracting work. One of them even sent me a map to a secured US Federal Government facility here in north Virginia, that has no markings on the exterior and uncleared people or non-residents are not even supposed to know about. The disturbing thing about such attacks is the "personal" nature of them. It is very common to get hit with malware or other intrusions, but seldom are they of such personal or violent or vicious nature.
- The first of these gmail attacks or intrusions started at the same time that a COX cable technician showed up at the location I was online from. And he was at the telephone pole, doing things to the wiring. But the lan was VERIZON fios and it stayed VERIZON fios. The Some of the threats were quite vicious or explicit in nature.
2. These incidents died down, but about 3 weeks ago, shortly after a move to a new home office here in north Virginia, MORE gmail issues. And these gmail issues, also, coincidentally or not, began just after a Verizon technician
- Emails that I read or open and then close, will disappear. And they are not in Trash, or Archive, or anywhere. (For all I know, emails I have NOT YET read, are disappearing also.)
- Google voicemail messages forwarded to my cell will appear briefly, then disappear. Even without me opening them. l will see a vm coming in, but if I do not get to it in seconds, it disappears. So no telling what voicemail is being missed.
What does this sound like? The emails disappearing are a very recent phenomena, despite me using gmail for over 12 years. And my settings are identical to other government contractors and colleagues settings, because we have compared laptop to laptop!
