Your best bet is to purchase a subscription to Norton Internet Security when your current subscription runs out. With a valid subscription, you are eligible to receive the latest updates and upgrades for free. You need only keep your Activation Key for the product. Thanks!

Glad I got that right ....

 

Could you clarify a point that has been coming up recently:

 

Say I have NIS2008 that expires on 30 June 2008 and I: 

  1. Buy a new copy of NIS2008
     
  2. Renew the subscription for NIS2008 

and install/apply on say 20 June 2008 which is 10 days before the current subscription ends -- will the new subscription expire on the 20 June 2009 or on the 30 June 2009 (don't hold me to a day <g>)

 

I have always thought one did not lose the overlapping days but what happens and is the answer the same in both situations?

 

I've recently run into this on Passports and the US Passport renewal robs you of the overlapping days while the British Passport renewal allows you to renew up to 6 months early without losing the days <g>

Renewing always adds the time to your current subscription.

 

Activating a purchased key (from a bought product or the "Buy a key" option) gives you  the appropriate amount of time starting from the time of installation/activation.

Looking forward to NIS 2009.

I have NIS 2008, which I like alot.  My subscription runs out August 28.  If NIS 2009 is available after that date, what's the best way to replace the NIS 2008 with the NIS 2009 without paying for a short subscription period?  I like to completely remove the previous version before I install the newest one, BTW.

 

Is the risk of a few weeks of no new LiveUpdates worth the money saved from not renewing the NIS 2008? 

 

I don't remember any pre-release subscriptions; does the Norton Advantage program help loyal customers like me?  I haven't tried, but does anyone know if you can get subscription credit in this situation?

 

I'm probably no the only one who likes to do things this way.  Anyone with any good strategies?

See what Norton Staffers tell you but my understanding is that if you buy a new copy (or subscribe) of NIS2008 and say two weeks later NIS2009 is released then you update for free although the subscription for NIS2009 will expire on the date that NIS2008 would have done.
