Google analytics intrusion

I was watching Youtube and my computer freezes. Norton Av 2010 popes up and said it blocked an intrusion from Google analytics.cvybexpnqlh.info. Also it tried to launch Adobe Acrobat acrord32.exe. Norton told me there was nothing to do but I could stop the warnings if I wanted to. Has anyone heard of this? Could this be the Chinese gvt cracking into Google? Is there anything else i could do to prevent this from happening again?

thanks,

Hi gitman,

This actually has nothing to do with Google (aside from the fact that they own YouTube, of course).  Google Analytics is either google-analytics.com or google.com/analytics.  The domain you saw was cvybexpnqlh.info.  Apparently you encountered a drive-by exploit of one of the many Adobe Reader vulnerabilities.  A patch was just released last week for the latest flaw.  This brings the current version to 9.3.1.  To update, open Adobe Reader and click Help > Check for Updates.  Keeping all of your applications patched with the latest available security updates is the best way to protect yourself from these types of attacks.

Phil_d I don't have the URL of the video I was watching. I do try to keep everything updated. I checked Adobe Reader and I was up to date with everything except a language update. I do have a screen shot of what Norton found. Would you be interested in me sending the screen shot?

Thanks for the response and thank Norton AV for stopping this attack.

Gitman

That would be great if you could send me a screenshot in a Private Message.

Thanks!
