Hi!
I don´t know is this the wright place to right about this but hopefylly somebody from Symantec sees this:
13 Mar 2014 Nick Johnston wrote at his Symantec blog that Symantec customers are protected against this threat. This is not true! I have used for several years Symantec Norton Interner Security at my home pc. Ever since everything has gone well, until yesterday. Unfortunatelly yesterday 11 March 2015 one of my family member got this phishing scam mail to his Gmail and typed credentials and password to the site, that was attached in this phishing mail. Norton internet security did not notice anything and the worst scenario was ready! In 20 minutes Gmail account was hijacked from Nigeria ip and hundreds of new same phishing mails were sent to the addresses in gmail´s address book! And after all the hole address book was deleted. We are lucky because we noticed this in time and managed to change the password to gmail account.
So my question is how is this possible when using Norton internet security? Browser that we use is Chrome. All my setttings in Norton are okey. Here in Finland most of the other users, who got this phishing mail from my family member, were in safe because their antivirus and firewall applications (even the free ones) blocked the message.
.I would kindly ask explanation from Symantec for this issue. I know that this matter was users´s own mistake, but anyway….
