The Tech Guy program today advised against using Norton Anti-Virus products because, among other reasons, these might actually introduce new security vulnerabilities.
On checking there were several recent internet stories indicating that Tavis Omandy, Google security researcher, had uncovered numerous security vulnerabilities in Symantec's entire suite of antivirus products.
Do forum participants have any insight as to whether the reports of security vulnerabilities are accurate?
If so, is there any activity at Norton/Symantec to address these vulnerabilities?
If accurate it's pretty scary as a long time Norton Security user to contemplate that the security software might be making my devices less secure.
