Hi all,
After my Norton kept stopping its scan on 8000 items, i decided to do a custom scan and actually watch what was going on. What i found was files with names like 'trojan' were being scanned but completely ignored, not considered threats and the scan simply continues! The list is as follows..
- trojan.bootconf
- infostealer.bancos.g
- W32.Sality.U
- Trojan.Gpcoder.E
-Trojan.zlob
- possibly more!
Now i've researched a little, looked on symantec website on how to remove there trojans, but they only provide outdated information for Programmes like Norton 2003..
Can anyone shed some light on my problem, possibly give advice on how to remove? Im using the new Norton 360 and use Vista
Thanks
Before i do download that can you provide any info or advice i could do myself?
Without the full picture of what is running actively on your system, any corrective actions as to delete this or remove this registry setting may do more harm than good. We can't give you automatic program usage advise other than some free spyware scanners (MalwareBytes AntiMalware and / or SUPERAntiSpyware) but if you have tried those and are still infected...... You could search for the manual removal directions for the virus you mentioned from here : http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_response/removaltools.jsp or search for the virus name on the search bar (top right corner) and see if there are manual removal directions.
Again, everything would be better and faster if we knew what exactly is running on your system. But that is your choice.

Hi i_hate_my_comp,
When you perform a scan, it will check in Startup folder and Windows Temporary folder(temp files) and host files for the presence of critical threats such as w31.stration.d@mm, w32.sality.u, trojanhorse, adware.conspy, spybouncer etc as those are the common loading points from where the viruses/threats operate. It is just tracing whether any of those files has similar characteristics of these dangerous threats and if it is found, the Norton program will prompt for repair/remove. So, no need to worry, this is a normal procedure and this doesn't mean that your computer is infected with these viruses.

If you still need to confirm, go to the View Security History. There it will show if any threat is detected/removed/quarantined/unattended. Here is the link to similar thread(Solved)
