So, a friend across the street has received an email from their ISP (same as mine) stating that their Windows 7 PC has been attacked/infected by the GOZI Trojan which is a apparently a malicious little bugger. They are not using Norton like I am, but are using MacAfee. The ISP sent them a list of 9 different methods/software to use in an attempt to detect it, location, and removal. This material is way over their heads so of course they call me up to help. In my case am I protected by Norton Antivirus which I pay an annual fee, or am I on my own if I get it. I have told them to discontinue sending out and communications at all until it is cleaned up. I have Norton NPE.exe but who knows if it will tell if I have it now. They thing they picked it up searching around and downloading a program from Adobe, but not sure.
This couple are on a fixed income so I would like to help them out as well as protect myself. Any input would be appreciated
