Greek Language still displayed

A while back I posted about 360 4.0 information/dialogue boxes being displayed in a strange language, which turns out to be Greek. No one had a solution for the problem so I removed 360 and went to other AV software that was free.

I figured someone would have figured it out by now and developed a patch, and the cost of a subscription for a year going to waste began to bother me.  So I re-installed 360 after I wiped my HDD and reinstalled the OS.. Guess what? It's baaaaaaack!

I think I know what the problem is: I'm running Win 7 x64.  I downloaded a new installer and it still displays Greek characters. Just for what it's worth, the processor is a AMD Phenom quad.

If any engineers/gurus/hackers can suggest a fix, I'm all ears.

Hi Phillip1955

You could try the following.

Download and save the English installation file for your version of Norton 360 from one of the following locations.

Norton 360 v4 Standard: www.norton.com/n360s_4

Norton 360 v4 Premier: www.norton.com/n360p_4

If you use Identity Safe please back it up to be restored later.
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool from here (this tool will remove all Norton products from your PC)

www.norton.com/symnrt

Make sure that your Microsoft Security Essentials has been uninstalled.

Run the Norton 360 V4 install file prevously saved.

Run liveupdate repeatedly until there are no more updates to install.

Restore your Identity Safe file backed up earlier.

MDTURNER, I followed your instructions and now have an English version of Norton 360 4.0.  Thank you!

I may have found a clue to the original problem. The folder on my desktop named "Norton Installation Files" has a text file called "downloadinfo." Here's what's in that file:

So apparently something in the download process was corrupted.

I tried running the removal tool, but it failed to load - a box that appeared to be the command console would flash onscreen for about 1/4 second and then disappear.  I used the Windows program removal and had no problem.

This is apparently a 32 bit installation because the update history shows the 64-bit definition file that I downloaded yesterday failed to install. So it suggests the problem is with the 64 bit version.

No matter, as long as it works properly in a 64 bit environment, I'm happy.  My thanks to you and delphinium for the assistance, may Santa Clause bring you a winning lottery ticket!
