I recently noticed that when viewing photos or files in Windows Explorer, I am seeing Green Check Marks or white on blue ">>" in the lower left of each photo or on the small icon for file names. Shortly after getting this machine (only a couple months ago) I installed Norton 360 and, in the course of events, also did a routine back up. I'm wondering now if those check marks and >> are indications of items backed up and items needed to be backed up?
I do regular scans so I don't believe there's any bad actors playing inside this machine. It is kind of annoying but I can understand the purpose if, in fact, it is 360 doing this. If so, is there a way to turn these icons (I guess you would consider them icons) off?

The 'icons' you refer to do indeed indicate that the files have been backed up. If you do not like that display just follow Yank's instructions.
That did it! Thanks very much. Since I do back up fairly regularly I don't really think I need those reminders. I would also presume that when I approach the time for the next back up I could turn that back on and see just what will be backed up. I had previously been using the MS Back up utility but decided to give 360 a try. I thought it was much more intuitive, easy to use and will continue using it.
