I received a call from Avangate Services LLC in San Leandro, CA advising that they were with Microsoft and had learned that some one was trying to hack my computer and that anti hacking software could be installed for $1989. I asked for their address and phone number. The latter was 1-855-605-2323. In checking this number online I found that it was also the phone number of PCAid24x7 in Greenwood, SC. Strange. One company in CA and the other in SC-both with the same phone number. Further checking revealed that PCAid24x7 also had the phone number 1-855-213-4311 and their website read "Technical Support for Norton, anywhere, anytime by PCAID24x7" with pictures of three Norton products. Does anyone have information as to whether these companies are legit? Is PCAID24x7 a company authorized or sponsored by either Microsoft or Norton? Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated.
