This useful utility has just been updated to Version: 1.7.0.2 . If you have the earlier 1.6.x just go to their website, download and run the installer file and it will update, preserving your existing settings.
This is a free tool that can remove and disable the 'Get Windows 10' notification area icon on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Recent versions can also disable 'Upgrade to Windows 10' behavior in the Windows Update control panel and do much more. See the user guide at the Ultimate Outsider blog. You can still download GWX Control Panel as a standalone executable if you don't like installers. If you do install it and wonder, the item Automatically install Windows Updates? [No] does not block the normal Windows updates, only those relating to upgrading to Windows 10.
