Yesterday, my laptop was hacked and malware installed. My question is how Norton let this happen, when the firewall was up and anti-virus up-to-date? What else do I have to do to prevent this in the future?
difficult to answer without know how or what made you come to this conclusion
what did you notice?
where you online?
go a site?
open or click a attatchment?
Hello. Its hard to say Norton allowed something to take place without some evidence of that having taken place. There are more questions regarding your post that we need a bit more information about to help you. Those are:
- What OS are you using, what is its version / build?
- How exactly was your laptop "hacked" ? Did you visit a website, open an e-mail link, or, get a pop-up regarding an infection while surfing? If so was it within your browser or did Norton alert you?
- Are there any entries in your Norton history that would suggest malware is installed or had been blocked? Screenshots would help in that regard. Here is how to post screenshots: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-post-image-forums-0

How did you establish the laptop was hacked? What malware was installed?
Did you open any emails or messages from senders you did not recognise?
