Had Internet Security and now have 360 - how to get installed on my son's laptop?

I inadvertently switched to the 360 product.  I have always used Internet Security and was coming up on renewal, and somehow wound up on the "special deals" page, and saw the 49.99 price for 360, and somehow thought it was the same thing, just a better price, so I bought it.  WHen I installed it and saw it uninstalling the Internet Security product, I realized I had bought a different product.  But I figure it's no big deal, and I look for where to get my son's laptop updated.  I finally find the "add device"  page, and it asks for an email to be opened from that device.  So of course I put my son's email address in there, and send it.  He texts me tonight and said that it is asking him for an account.  WHY?  We have never had to have two accounts before?  I am supposed to be able to put this on THREE machines.  It was so easy with Internet Security.  Why is 360 different?

Hi, Chessie.  Welcome.

I'm curious.  When you purchased Norton 360, was the e-mail address that you used your son's e-mail address?  If not, therein lies the problem.  In that case, you would need to ask your son to sign in with the same e-mail address (along with the password) with which you used to sign in to your old Norton account.

Hi Chessie,

Can I suggest you contact Customer Support to get this sorted.  The Norton Community is great at solving technical issues but when it comes to account problems, we can't really help.  The best way is usually by Live Chat using your keyboard.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks,

Hi Chessie,

If you have purchased N360 from norton site, key will be tied to the email id which you give during purchase. If you have purchased from retail store, you need to register after installing and activating product.

In your case, key might not be reigsterd to any ID. Hence it is asking to register in your son's PC.

You can launch product in your PC and click 'account' and register to your email ID. Then sync in your son's PC. He will not be prompted to register again.

This behaviour is same for both NIS and N360. Kindly let us know if you need any info.

Thanks!
