Hanging issue with ccSvcHst during shutdown procedure WinXP

Hi Mo

If ever you get sick of it or want to give it a go,  would a step by step guide help, with pictures for every step help??   Including backing up that registry entry first?? (even I do that).

Regards

Quads

P.S. I know what kindy means, sounds like what us Kiwis use.

Hey bro(Quads):smileywink:

Just like the kindy kids pictures would be great for a novice like me!!!Its like jumping in the deep end and not knowing if you can get out without the information/knowledge needed.I read a thread on the first page of this forum(33rd)about people like me who need extra help with security/computers it was by an Symantec employee I think some sort of forum for us novices to ask other PC related questons would be great, like the how to back up the registry as I see it all of it is related in the big picture.Often the solutions involve work arounds which as a novice/non techie I wouldn't have a clue on how to do and by searching the net on how to do the work around the answers are so full of jargon I would have to do a search on the jargon!I am harping on a bit so sorry about that.step by step would be great /pictures even better.

Cheers Mo

Hi Mo

Please give me some time to create the screenshots and compile the guide in .pdf format.

I will use my personal site for you to be able to download it.

Thanks

Hi Quads

Not to come across as being rude,I don"t really know you and is this OK?I'm not the fly coming to the spider?Anyone else have a thought on Quads offer.Dont get me wrong I know there will be a lot of effort on your part to help me but I'm cautious by nature  and don't want to go off to a site I don't know about.I really don't want to cause offense.

Hi Mo

And I have recently seen that, when a forum user / memeber posts a link to an illegal site( to cracks or keygens) or a link to a download that is infected (Viruses etc.). The forum Moderator removes the link due to breaking the forum conditions, They wouldn't want people using their site to spread infected files now.   :-) .

Cheers

Hi Quads

This shows my ignorance in all things to do with computers. As a novice you really don't no who to trust when asking for help when things dont make sense on your computer.I think I've been away to long from the land of the long white cloud(nz to anyone who's curious)the internet is a faceless community so I think caution must come first. Thanks again

Mo

ps what is a crack/keygen??

Hi Mo

Hahaha, maybe against the guidelines to say, but here was one of the posts.

and here is the Participation Guidelines

Go down to "keep it legal".

We will see if I get a reply to my Message about the fix. It would be easier for you just to download the fix from Symantec and click a button.

Just have to wait.

Cheers

Opps, Guidelines

Hi Quads,

Well, that's partly true. We will remove the link if someone posts a keygen or crack, but mostly because they're illegal and they're a great way to get a malware infection. With that said, if you find a crack or keygen, please send me a PM with the information, or email the information to me (email address on my profile). Thanks!

Hi

I am having a problem  arise, At approximately a 1 in 4 occurance, When shuting down the PC ( Win XP) a dialog box appears saying "ccSvcHst has stopped responding" with Windows trying to close the program.
Every now and then I have to click the "End Now" button to force the termination.  Then the shutdown process continues.

Thanks

Hi Quads,

In NIS 2008 that is not uncommon.
