Norton sends a stream of harassing emails (to me they are harassing) telling me I need to renew my protection. I purchased a new package from a store and loaded it on my computers. It shows up on my account page. How can I delete to old "Nortons" from my account page, and if I do, will that stop the harassing emails?
ATTENTION! NORTON™ INTERNET SECURITY EXPIRED 2 WEEKS AGO. Dear David, It's come to our attention that your subscription to Norton Internet Security has expired. This means you are no longer receiving important security updates. Your PC is currently vulnerable to malicious online threats including viruses, spyware, hackers and identity thieves and more. If you are still using your computer to go online or connecting to a wireless network, it's of the utmost importance that you renew your protection subscription now and get the new Norton Internet Security 2010.
You will receive a full year of proactive protection that protects your identity—and combats rapid-fire attacks before they damage your systems. Sincerely, The Norton Team
Even though you purchased a new subscription, the old one is still there. New subscrtipions are treated as if you have other computers that you want to protect besides the ones that are used with the old subscription, so the old one is still reminding you that it's expired.
I know this can be unnecessary since you've used a new subscription to replace the old one. Those email should stop coming in after 28 days of your subscription expiration date.
If you want to be removed before the 28 days. one of our Chat agents should be able to assist: http://www.norton.com/chat
I've been getting those emails since I updated to NIS 2012 every day. This is since around Christmas time....My old one has long expired... When looking at the headers, they been coming from different places also, so not sure if they are even from Norton.

If that is indeed the case I wonder how your email address is being harvested in the first place.
I have also been wondering how the emails addresses are being harvested. My wife just started receiving many of them from different addresses and I have received none. Our Norton subscripton is in her name and she is the one getting the spams.
I don't think they are legitimate and if they are from a Norton partner it is extremely poor marketing.
One warning sign is that they don't seem to be aware of if we actually own the product or the status of our subscription.
I also looked at some headers and they differ from each other.
I know that every product is targeted by the bad guys but do want to know if Norton subscribers are being targeted by design.
I don't even open up the emails. They get deleted as soon as I see them. Some are caught by my ISP's spam detector and some get thru to my inbox, but then are deleted when I see them. I don't know how they get my email address, but there have been several threads from people complaining about these emails also. Since I haven't opened them up, I don't know what they say inside other than seeing the subject matter and can see the headers without opening up the emails.
