I'm running NIS 2011 on a XP Pro, for the last few days the above error box pops up on my desktop. Most of the occurrences happen at unknown times, I move my mouse to stop the screen saver and there's the dialog box. The only thing to do is click the close button, when I open NIS it shows "secure" with no warnings, there's no entry in history either.
I wanted to add a little additional information. By selecting the "detail" option at the bottom of the dialog box I get the following: Error Signature - Appname ASOELNCH.EXE, Appver 18.6.0.29, Offset 00001a6d. I hope this helps...........RG

Welcome Ronald,
The program listed is a Norton program which doesn't appear to be functioning correctly. If nothing else is a problem I'd suggest that you go to the control panel and delete
your Norton program, reboot and reinstall it. Then run live update and reboot a few times to be sure that all of the updates are downloaded and installed. After that you should be good to go
Hope this helps
Thanks for the reply Dick, I just finished removing and re-installing NIS 2011. Almost everything worked just as they should, except the installer package for 18.6.0.29, which wouldn't open/run. I had the original on disk and let it update to current.
Again, thank you very much for your time................RG
I suddenly have the same issue, but there is not Antispam Hook Launcher in my program list when I look in the Add/remove program section. All I have is Norton Internet Security and Norton Systemworks, but programs are up to date and I did a complete new reinstall about 2 months ago. Any suggestions?

This can happen if there is other security software installed on the system that prevents the installation of a second program. If you have other realtime security programs running, they could be causing your issues.

Welcome,
Have you tried the solution recommended above? I don't want to recommend the Remove and Reinstall Tool unless necessary as it will also remove Systemworks.
To be sure nothing else has slipped in under the door reboot into safe mode and run a full scan. If that doesn't convince you, and it might not convince me, I'd download the free copy of Malwarebytes scanner, install it, update it then reboot and run it from safe mode. Between the two you have the best chance of finding and removing all but the worst offenders.
Let us know how it goes. We'll leave a light on
I have been having the same issue since I upgraded. A Norton tech actually used the Norton Removal Tool a couple days ago to correct an Error condition.. However the OE Hook error still appears.. I am running XP SP3. I also run Norton Utilities... Any suggestions??
Just upgraded to NIS 2012 a few days ago from NIS 2011; never got this message until now. I'm running windows 7 pro. I do have outlook 2010 but never use it. I have Norton Utilities / Ghost (2011 haven't installed 2012 yet but I do have it) I believe it's a bug with NIS software...
Downloading " the free copy of Malwarebytes scanner, install it, update it then reboot and run it from safe mode. Between the two you have the best chance of finding and removing all but the worst offenders"... makes me wonder why even have Norton Internet Security then? For me, this not an acceptable solution; if NIS can not do the job then why is it over $99 for a 1 year subscription*?
I appreciate the advice dickevans, but do you instead recommend McAfee? I like my system slim and trim, bloatware free, and built by me. I sandbox my browser and am very cautious where I surf. So far I'm sitting on the fence with Norton after their bombardment for "parent control" advertisements a year ago. That stopped but left a bad taste w/me. Other than that (and now this message), I'm "just" happy w/Norton, not a Superfan.
*actually, $9.99 after Fry's rebates
