A few months back, I upgraded from NAV08 to NIS09 and yesterday to NIS10.
It is my perception that full virus scans have been getting progressively slower. (Yes, I enabled the auto-thread option.)
I am aware that full system scans are no longer considered a necessary and the most effective way of keeping your computer protected which is good I guess at this rate. I think the slow down is anywhere from 2X to 4X over NAV08. I suspect this all has something to do with increased thoroughness of NIS09’s scans which is offset by new technologies such as (idle time scanning, multi-threaded scanning, and trusted files).
Now, perhaps a subsequent scan may be a lot faster as maybe many files will be marked unnecessary to scan again. I am not sure if that is also a feature of NIS10.
Still, I am cursious, does anyone else thing that the full system scans have been getting progressively slower with each new release?
Thanks.
PS: Note that I am generally pleased with NIS10. Most impressive is how much the accuracy of the new SPAM engine has improved.
