Having NIS run at startup

I use version 20.4.0.40 of NIS.  I first installed NIS years ago and have updated it many times.  Now, for whatever reason, it stopped running at startup.  So I manually added uistub.exe to the startup folder.  Now it runs, but the "dashboard" is up at startup; I have to close it to get rid of it and run it in the background, like it used to do.  What I want is for it to be in the system folder at the right of the taskbar at startup.

Should I instead load one of the other executables -- symimi64, sevntx, or cpysnpt?  Or something else>

Second question.  How do I add the Windows gadget?

Hi ErnieLane,

Try this (I'm talking Win 7) not sure anymore about XP - on the systemTray (by the clock), left click on the little white arrow pointing up, select Customize, look for the Norton Internet Security Icon and then select Show Icon and Notificatuons from the drop down on the right side.  OK - Do you have the Norton Icon in the System Tray by the click now and does the left lcick open NIS and a right click provide other Options?

Why do you think it is not running?  Because there is no icon in the system tray or because you have to start it in order to get the Main page?

While you are changing settings, you should remove that startup entry you created. It is doing what you asked, as the uistub.exe is the program file for the Norton Interface (UI).

Hi ErnieLane,

Please do not start multiple threads about the same subject, especailly since there are already replies on this one.

I have asked the mod to merge your other threads with this one.

I use NIS 20.4.0.40 and have gone through several updates.  After I installed it, it loaded at startup with an icon in the system tray.  For whatever reason, it stopped running at startup, so I put the file UISTUB.EXE in my startup folder.  Now it starts with a "dashboard" on the desktop, with various buttons and menus.  I have to close it to get it off the desktop and to the system folder.  This is a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nevertheless.

How do I get it to run at startup with the icon in the system tray?  Run another file instead; executables in the same folder as UISTUB are SYMIMI64, SEVNTX64 and CPYSNPT.
