I recieved my new lap top, running windows 7 professional, purchased 1 yr norton antivirus/internet scurity, got everything set up and my IE8 won't allow me to access any secure websites, little bit of newbie at this kind of stuff, but went thru help menu at windows, came to results that antivirus was causes sites to be blocked, recovered to start date and now I can't get antivirus to start and still locked from secure sites.
Biggest problem I can't get online support due to secure site problem, and can't access my email account (yahoo) for same reason.
When I try to run live update error I get......C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.5.0.125\unistub.exe Unspecidied error
Did your new computer come with any security program already installed as a trial version perhaps? Please check to see if it came with a security program already installed other than NIS 2011. If it came with a different security program, it will have to be uninstalled using the control panel method and a reboot. Then you will have to use the removal tool from the other company and then uninstall and reinstall NIS 2011.
Please let us know if there was another security program installed with the laptop and was it properly removed. Thanks.
It came Windows antivirus, but it was disabled, norton was installed from the factory, just try bootable download from norton website, when I try to reinstall it, message was invalid product, I have a product key that came with computer, I already actived it at website earlier today, computer is telling me the that exe file is missing, really need to get this problem sovled.
I don't have discs from that factory, and I didn't have discs to create backup yet, really did think I would have these many problems in just few days.
Can I just uninstall orginal from hard drive and download same version for website with product key I have, all my information should be logged on my account on web site, correct?
I believe I figure something out, your product detected an addon and removed it, also removed other files that it shared with, belive it had to do with .dll files, would allow secure login and when I was on the support site, the instructions told me to run live update, and when I did, that is the moment that I recieved that error in my orginal post
