Recently Norton 360's firewall has begun blocking the subject Netgear utility from starting properly. The Netgear USB Control Center allows computers to share a printer that is plugged into the router's usb port. It was working for over a year but recently stopped working on on of our 3 home computers. The affected computer is a Toshiba Satellite dual core pentium with 2G memory running Win Vista Home Premium. It is the only computer in the home with Norton 360 loaded and it only recently stopped being able to share the printer that it has been sharing for over a year possibly due to a recent Norton 360 update. If the Norton firewall is disabled, the Netgear Utllity begins working and continues to work even if the firewall is re-enabled. Right now I've permanently disabled the Norton 360 firewall. I hate to be paying for a feature (firewall) that is not usuable. If I recall, the Netgear utility uses UDP 7423.

Hi intesec,
I guess I missed your reply from a few days ago. Sorry, I'm a newbie. I don't think that what you're suggesting will work. I'm not sure what device I would adding. My guess is that there is some sort USB over IP protocol and that ControlCenter utility masks the printer as a network device. You can only see the printer thru the ControlCenter utility. It's a pretty low end HP inkjet printer that has no networking capability on it own.
