Help needed re logging in server Error -2016

Hi, I’m having issues logging in to and activating my Norton desktop app.
I reinstalled Norton on to my pc and when I open the desktop app, it tells me I need to sign in to activate your app.
If I don’t sign in your app will be disabled within the next 23 hours.
Now I’ve entered the correct email and password and the 2FA.
After this it proceeds to try and log me in, but instead it comes up with the exact following message.
SERVER ERROR
We’re working to resolve an issue that prevent us from completing your request.
Try again later.
(Error Code: -2016 )

I am able to login to the app on my phone and I am able to access my account via the the website, but the desktop app won’t work.

I’ve uninstalled a number of times, I’ve tried the repair tool and various other things, but none of them work.
Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Try this
Login into your Norton account online. Go to My Subscriptions and click on Manage Licenses. Delete your PC from the list. Now try activating again. I have the same issue today and this fixed it

I am having exactly the problem that Lockey described, and tried the proposed fix of deleting the device. This didn’t work. I also unsinstalled, deleted device, downloaded from Norton and still getting same error 2016. I have been using Norton from the same account for a decade or more, and am also running on 2 other windows systems and 2 androids successfully. The win11 with this problem is fully up to date and not a new licence. Any ideas anyone?
Might be time to try a different security product if not thanks

~ and you tried Norton support?

Thanks for the suggestions. I resolved the problem myself. Having also reinstalled windows with no joy, I had the idea to try from a different user area. Success. Thanks

Hello @L_Rogerson
