I recently got rid of some really nasty trojans on my computer by using the Norton Eraser Tool (regular Norton found the trojans but could not remove them) and I thought everything was going well. However, I turned on my computer the next morning to discover that my Norton 360 icon turned blank and that my shortcut to the program had been moved or deleted. I went to access the program files directly to run a scan and I was not allowed to access them, although I am an administrator. I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton at least ten times and still I was not allowed to access it after I rebooted my computer at least once. I went into Safe Mode and found I could access Norton just fine and it preformed a full scan, found two trojans, and removed them. However, nothing changed and I redid the scan at least five more times and I still have the same exact issues. I cannot access Norton and my Windows Updater won't update a certain file and displays error code 57
That is the image I see every time I boot my computer, which I have seen for months with the old trojans that would not leave. My computer otherwise is acting perfectly normally-- before it was incredibly slow and showed obvious signs of a trojan. Now it's perfectly fine except for Norton being unaccessible and me not being able to install my Windows Updater.
Please help!! I am tired of dealing with a virus I can't find. I run on Vista and I have Norton 360 4.0 premier
if u r not able to run msconfig and task manager too is disabled then well u may still be infected download hijack this and post log file for users here to see for nay malicious entries also if u r able to open msconfig then check for suspicious processes
you said you used power eraser from norton can you specify exactly what it said about the items found.
Run a scan with Norton power eraser tool again.
Also post the name of the threats
If u can then download superantispyware or malware bytes and run a full system scan
too
or else jus download McAfee stinger and scan
its not av but checks for selected threats change the heuristics setting in Norton(if possible through safe mode) and McAfee
You May even get this message as norton has removed a threat but its start up entry still exists and is causing the prob.
I can run both msconfig and task manager, but I see no suspicious files other than csrss.exe, but apparently that's also a cricual file for windows to run...

That was the item removed.
Also, I have run malwarebytes and it helped me get rid of the trojan the first time, but it didn't REALLY get rid of it. It removed a ton of infected files, but my computer was still incredibly slow, took me to different websites, and the same trojan flared up again about a month or so later. After scanning with malwarebytes again it found absolutely nothing. I haven't used it since.
My hijackthis log is attached because it exceeded the characters.
