Hi - help page didn't have an ask bar long enough so I hope someone here can help me - or at least point me in the right direction.
My hard drive crash and reset itself and had to be wiped and the programs reinstalled from the disks I have or downloaded if they were just free addons. Norton is neither of these. I have the original serial number and product key from when I first signed up for Norton in 2009, but I don't think I have anything from my auto renewals since then.
How do I reinstal my current Norton without having to buy a new subscription?
If you did a Restore to Factory Condition that often includes a trial installation of a security program -- you must uninstall it and in most cases use a special tool to clean up further that you can download from thw website of the program -- tell us what it is and we can point you in the right direction.
Try logging onto the MyNortonAccount you created when activating using your email address and login password.
You should find the KEY there if you click on the product details to expand it.
And you can click on DOWNLOAD and it will download and install the latest version available for download already activated.
If you still have a problem let us know and we can put you in touch with Norton OnLine Support who should be able to access your records.
I don't think i have any security program on or installed. The IT guy had to completely wipe and install the boot disc and programs I had, but i only had the original receipt and subscription keys from the first time I installed Norton - it was on a differnt computer so i must ahve been able to reinstall somehow. Maybe I just renewed the subscription and paied from that time on.
I can't log into the my accout because my email has also changed since then, but even using the old one didn't work - or the password was wrong. I traid retreiving but it hasn't emaild me yet - so irritating. I am sure its a simple thing because I must have done it when I switched computers when my original died.
Understood -- if it was a "rebuild" using Microsoft disks and reinstalling applications then you would know if there was a security application as well.
Best way to sort out the situation is to contact the Norton OnLine Support via the CHAT route as below and they should be able to change the email address for your MyNortonAccount and then it's simple to download from that since it gives you a preactivated installation of the latest version available for download.
After installation there will still be some updates so run LiveUpdate manually with a reboot in between until it says you are fully uptodate.
