This is not an new issue for me. Every few months I get a machine that has an unwanted version of Nortons, various versions, usually pre-installed by OEM maker but not always, that I need to remove. Never has this removal gone smoothly.
Currently I have a budget machine that has Norton Internet Security, likely a 2009 version but I am unsure, that I can't remove. The uninstaller fails to remove it completely. The removal tool fails to function at all (cmd windows pops open then closes).
How does one remove this software without hacking through the registry?
I am regularly asked for recommendation for anti-virus software. How can I recommend any Symantic product at all when it is nearly impossible to remove? I am quite surprised this is not on the "top-issue" list.
