Is anything installed to the desktop? Is there a Norton SystemWorks program listed that you can run? I apologize; I’m a bit confused about this issue. If you can provide more details at to what you’re seeing (or not seeing) and any screenshots, that would be helpful as well. Thanks!
Hi Tony, This might help: I'm running Vista and I bought the actual CD Rom. When I Install the program, it gives me three option to "Tick" or Untick, well, 2 actually, as Sustemworks "Tick" is not accessable: it gives me "Utilities" and "Clean Up". The whole process works properly, and all responses tells me that it is installed correctly: the files are in "Program" files and all looks okay. I click on "All Programs" and there it all is...so I click on the "Norton Systemworks" highlight and nothing happens...zippo....zilch. When I click on the "utilities" highlight, it works perfectly...and so with the "Clean Up" highlight. With Systemworks not opening, I can't use One Button Check-up, or access Live Update or any other such option. I have been able to find and use OBC from the Files in Program Files. I just click on the file application and it opens and can be used. I don't know which of these application files is Systemsworks though, but incidently, the Application files that have Systemworks in the title, don't open. I'm not on the internet at the moment as I'm currently working in Sweden and my accomodation doesn't have internet facility (which is just dandy). Does this help at all?
Thanks, Martin Ward.
Hi Porchedreamer - I'm sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with this app.
Some followup questions / suggestions:
1. Is there a Norton Protection Center Icon located anyhere in either the the task bar or the system tray? If so, when you right click this, what happens when you select "Open Norton Protection Center" ? If it opens correctly, you should see a second tab within this window for Norton Systemworks. This is where you access NSW functions.
2. From the ALL PROGRAMS | Norton Systemworks directory, try running the Norton Systemworks icon as Administrator. You do this by right mouse-clicking the icon and selecting the "Run as Admin" option. You shouldn't have to do this, but I want to make sure you're not experiencing any problem associated with permissions.
3. You mentioned that you have Standard Edition. Did you also install NAV? Does it appear to be running alright?
4. Have you rebooted?
