Yeah i’m going to give it a shot again and call tech support with what you have noticed and see if they can get anywhere with this problem. Ill let you know what they say, though its probably going to be useless…
Liverbird- I’m going to do the reinstallation on my moms computer right now but aside from running the removal tool- this morning when the tech was explaining to me how to do it (He was supposed to email me directions but never did) he said I had to clean out the registry that the tool would not clean out. I just wanna make sure I don’t leave any trace of it so the installation will go smoothly and everything works out the way it should this time. Heck- I’d like to see if I can get her network secure on a reinstallation. Thanks… I don’t want to go digging in the registry and doing something I’m not really sure of and possibly screwing up big time so if its easy and quick to do i’ll do it. If not i’ll just deal with using the tool and whatever is left over so be it. Know how to do this in the registry?
Hint! If you don't know what you do, only use the removal tool. Deleting neccessary registry keys will cause the system not to start!!!
Start-> Accessoires--> Run "regedit" without " --> press enter
Highlight Computer and from the menu press export..
in the new window give the exportfile a name you want and be sure that the marker is set to all.! Now you have a backup of all registry keys if you delete something that youdon't want to delete.
Now back to the "Registry Editor" window -->click edit and then click find and type in Symantec --> delete the key he will you--> press F3 he now search for the next "Symantec" key --> delete it.
You can delete Keys with rightclick --> delete
BE CAREFUL, please
Cheerio Lars
edited to clarify how dangerous this is and it's normally NOT neccessary
Yeah- Thanks. Thats why i do not want to go digging in the registry. I know one click can make me very mad when this doesn’t start up. To play it safe- Tech will once again be bothered by me lol and i’ll have them manually do this for me with remote access.
Scott, as the member above states ..... be very careful!
Myself, I have always found the removal tool sufficient ....... that's what Norton made it for, you can run it twice that may remove any left over from first running it, (do it no harm to run the removal twice.)

Hi Scott and welcome,
this At Risk problem that you are seeing is fairly widespread and is known to Symantec ...... they are currently working on a fix/patch so please hang on in there.
I too am seeing this as well as quite a few others, there is another thread here which you may want to bookmark:
