over the last week or so, i've been using my internet as normal (all automatic updates switched off, done scans to check no attacks being made on me), and fairly often (more than i'd like!!), within seconds my usage can jump up 50-100MB in one go. IN ONE GO!!!!!! the other day it happened and i wasn't even looking at any websites...just a blank screen!!!
i went into security history on NIS and noticed that these jumps in MB usage happen at the same time as the security history logs 'default SSDP block' type messages. i have read about SSDP block stuff and understand it's normal, but why does it take up so many MB usage? i'm only on 10GB a month and if i didn't keep a constant watch on the usage and disconnect every time it whooshes up cos' of the SSDP block thing, then i'd hate to imagine how much i'd be using (and no doubt charged extra if i go over my 10 GB limit (!!!)).
why does the SSDP block thing use so many megabytes!?!? it's frustrating and i daren't use the internet now :(
uggggh.
