Since getting the 5.0 ver. of Norton's Premier Edition a month ago, we have frequently received, "High memory usage by Internet Explorer." And of course our internet has slowed down when we do get the message.
Hi,
which Windows OS and Service Pack, and also which version of Internet Explorer do you use?
It is sometimes totally normal that IE can slow down a bit....
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1 32bit and Interner Explorer 9 but Firefox 4.0.1 is my default browser and I get the same message?
I don't think it has anything to do with the Norton product. Norton product has a way of conveying the CPU usage alert. That does not mean that Norton is causing the problem. Copying this features description from the Help files:
High-Usage Alert for:
CPU
When this option is turned on, Norton Internet Security detects and notifies you about the increased usage of the CPU resource by any program or process. By default, this option is turned on.
Memory
When this option is turned on, Norton Internet Security detects and notifies you about the increased usage of memory by any program or process. By default, this option is turned on.
Disk
When this option is turned on, Norton Internet Security detects and notifies you about the increased usage of your disk by any program or process. By default, this option is turned off.
Handles
When this option is turned on, Norton Internet Security detects and notifies you about the increased usage of handles by any program or process. A handle is a pointer that enables a program to access or identify a resource. By default, this option is turned off.
If you do not need this feature, you can turn it off. Start the Norton product > Click Settings > In the Miscellaneous Settings window, under Performance Monitoring, turn off the alert for CPU or Memory.
