I am trying to pull an image from a Hitachi laptop hard drive connected via USB to my ghost computer. Whenever I plug the hard drive into my ghost machine, Windows 7 tells me that the drive must be formatted before use. I cancel this window and open up Ghost.
When Ghost is opened, it immediately crashes. I get a window stating that "Ghost has stopped working" and my only option is to close the program.
That said, the reason why windows wants you to format the drive is usually because of a partition problem.
There may be an actual problem, or more likely it's because your not reading the drive correctly over USB.
Put the drive back into the laptop and see if it still works. If it does you need to image the drive while it's in the laptop or connect it with SATA, eSATA instead of USB.
