Floating_Red,

His worry is that he is not able to set the Home Page to Yahoo.

Execubob clearly stated that he followed the steps in the link and that upon reboot, IE returns to the Norton Page.

He posted because he wants to fix this problem and have Yahoo as his homepage.

Now then execubob, as Floating_Red mentioned, which Norton Product and version are you using? Which operating system and service pack? Have you tried to reset your home page directly through IE7?

Provide us with this info and we'll try to help.

Just instaled Norton Internet Security 2008. (deleted the 2006 version prior to the install)

Windows XP, service pack 2  (one year old Dell laptop)

Yes, I go into IE 7 and do the home page set up: Tools > Internet Options > set up My Yahoo...and it works perfect. Close IE and reopen it and My Yahoo is the home page.

'Reboot' the computer and it defaults back to the Norton page. And I repeat the process.....

Thanks ! (I love Norton, this is just some crazy setting I can't figure out)

execubob,

When you say you deleted 2006, did you uninstall through the Windows Add or Remove Programs interface or did you use the Norton Removal Tool? The Norton Removal Tool cleans up all remnants of older Norton Products which may be left behind performing the standard uninstall.

If you didn't run the Removal Tool, don't do so yet as it will uninstall 2008.

Get back to me on this.

Used the Norton removal tool.

Every time I reboot my home page in IE 7 changes the default from my.yahoo to: http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_response/fixhomepage.jsp

I follow the standard instructions and it works (home page is yahoo) untill I reboot. Then it's back to the Norton page.

Okay, let me think about this. I'll be back in a bit - perhaps someone else will have a suggestion in the meantime.

Phil

execubob,

I just want to confirm that when you tried the suggested procedure in the link you provided earlier, that you opened TWO copies of IE7 and changed the Home Page on the "New" or second instance of IE.

Resolved - apparently, I had opened a new 'tab' in IE 7 not a new browser instance. So opening a new browser instance fixed it. I rebooted and the home page is now My Yahoo (the best home page tool in the net, IMHO)

In reviewing the instructions, I should have understood it better - but I'll place all the blame on someone else anyway ......

Thanks again !

Glad to hear you had success!

Best Wishes,

Phil

Well done.

Sometimes the solution is easier than you think

You have not really provioded enough information, for example: what are your worries; did you follow those Steps and, if you did, that should Fix this Issue; how is your computer running, e.g. fast; when was the last time you did a Full System Scan (all boxes checked in the Norton Product Options), and did the Scan come up Clean; what O.S. are you using, with what S.P.; what Norton Product are you using; why did you Post, what do you want to Fix?
