sorry for the so many question on NIS2010 installation. I try to keep them seprate so as to not confuse myself
As you know, during the installation process for NIS2010, there is the part where you must activate the product within 15 days of install. I think that I activated it right way. How can I tell if the product completed the activation Process? Is there some place onthe NIS 2010 Panel/user interface that I can click on to check? I just want to make sure that 15 days from now, the product does not stop working because it was not validated. So please tell me how I can confirm that the validation is complete
Just look at the bottom of the NIS 2010 main window. It will tell you how many days you have left in your subscription. Does this show 15 days or something higher which would be consistent with the subscription you purchased?
If you purchased your subscription for 1 year, then this should show 366 days when you first activate NIS and then count down each day from there.
If it shows this, then you are full subscribed and activated.
Only problem, I installed it first time 2 days ago. Then as noted in other posts, we uninstalled. And reinstalled it yesterday, so shouldn't it show 364?
Have you had the NIS window open the whole time? I have noted before that it sometimes does not refresh if the window is active all the time.
In either case, you are fine. If you want to see this number get adjusted you can click on Help & Support > Subscription status. This will communicate with the Symantec server and should cause the number of days remaining to get refreshed.
No I don't keep the Norton Control panel open the whoe time. Infact don't check near as musc as I use t when I had NAV2008. Don't look at the history much or any othe that stuff, other than the amazment I have with the pulse updates and how they check every 10 minutes
I was illustrating one example under which the days may not refresh in "real time". You shouldn't worry about this, you are fully protected with an active subscription.
