Recently, my daughter downloaded a program, "GeoGebra 5.0" from a site recommended by her Calculus instructor. Upon downloading,, our machine became infected by a browser hijacker called Linkey. The machine subsequently sowed to a crawl. So what does my Calculus 2 A student do? She downloads the same *&^% on my pc. After spending the better part of yesterday running Norton PE, multi malware scans (Hitman Pro, MBAM, Spybot), I was ended up searching for every instance of "Linkey" and "Linkeyproject" in the registries of both machines and all users and got rid of Linkey.
However, since then, I have noted a number of intrusions blocked by N's firewall - all from the same shady site (see attachment). How can I ensure that my machines are clean and free of any spyware - short of a clean install on both machines?
Secondly, is there any way I can report the origin of these attacks, or even launch a counterattack of my own?
Thanks in advance!
