First of all, I apologise if this post is confusing as I’m pretty useless at computers… My partner was on the net last night, when all of a sudden the computer went to my desktop but there were no icons it was literally just my desktop picture. So I then turned it off and it loaded up as usual and I signed into my account, which was the one he was on at the time. Once I signed in it remained the same as before we turned it off, I then tried to use my task manager which the bought up quite a few web pages, one of which said that it was the metropolitan police and that they had blocked the computer until we made a payment of £100 through ukash. So I then switched users to my partners account and that loaded up fine. Although my windows defender said it had found a Trojan virus which It had quarantined. I then decided to download norton and run a scan, the first scan I did said it found threats (I can’t remember how many) but it managed to delete them all. I did another scan after that, the longer one which didn’t pick up anything. So I then restarted the computer and logged back into my account which loaded up fine but as it was loading up the same web page came up as before as well as my partners we pages that he was on before the computer went crazy. Whilst these web pages were loading norton came up and said the it had blocked some things that were high risk, but since then the computer has worked as normal. So I was just wondering can I be sure that the virus has gone or not? Sorry about the length of this post x
