I click'd "Manage my account" -> "Something else" and type'd "Live Agent" until ChatBot Kate reply: "transferring you to a specialist for further assistance".
Thank you to both SoulAsylum and bjm for your responses. I did finally manage to contact tech support by phone (I'm in Australia, by the way) but only after penetrating several layers of defenses designed to prevent this action. I first tried 'Chat with an Agent' (Re SoulAsylum's suggestion) I don't know how many times, only to fall into a black hole of 'describe your issue'/save/describe your issue/save' ad infinitum. It promised local phone numbers but the link did not work--a universal occurence with Norton. When I did finally reach support the person's accent was so thick I was unable to understand him, or him, me. After 15 minutes of trying to describe a rather simple issue, I was forced to give up in frustration. Norton's tech support is abominable. Thanks again for the replies.
Oh, one other point. A week ago I was contacted by Norton to say my account was being upgraded to 'deluxe'. The agent also supplied a 'special' phone number supposedly available only to deluxe accounts. When I tried it the phone company announced that the number was discontinued. Oh, Norton, what a miserable failure you are in terms of customer service!

Can anybody please supply a contact phone number for Norton Tech Support? I've been trying all evening to find a number, its almost impossible. I would appreciate any assistance in this regard.
