Hi there, I need a pro from this site to help me in removing all my threads and posts from this website. I will be very greatfull if someone could help me with this. Thank you
Thank you for taking time to respond to my question...Lets say I deleted my norton community accunt...would all the forums and posts I created dissapear?
Hi GreatNate1312,
Like delphinium, I too doubt that there is anything you can do to remove past posts. The forums exist as a support tool for Norton users, and past discussions are an integral part of that. They are an important resource for product information and problem solving. Finding solutions to current issues often involves searching past threads and posts to gather relevant information. There are a lot of great answers to be found in the record, as well as many enlightening discussions of issues that are still of interest to users. When you join or start a discussion on a forum you are contributing to a community effort, and you really can't expect to be able to expunge your individual posts and threads. And it is not just a matter of your own contributions. The contributions of others to threads in which you have participated would also be erased, or left to stand without context, and this would deny the rest of us access to these, as well.
I think we can set our accounts to inactive, but we do not have the ability to delete the account from the forum. That would cause some major problems if users on any forum could simply cause their accounts to disappear and possibly reappear at will.
You have contributed 622 posts, which is a large chunk of forum to just go missing. As well, you have given a large number of kudos during your time here, which would also be stripped away if your account was removed by the administration. I don't mind particularly for myself, but many of the others are proud of the kudos they received from you.
Having you simply disappear as though you had never been would actually be a considerable loss to the forum and other members.
Ok, then can I change my ID?
I'm not entirely sure that doing that, which would have to be permitted and done by the forum Admins, would do what you might want it to do. Changing your ID would be changed right across all posts, so your new ID would still be connected to all of the prior posts. In certain circumstances user names have been changed or corrected, but I can only recall two instances.
