How do I disable Norton Safe Web rating icon popups?

Google search results are displayed with a Norton rating icon next to them (most often a green check). When I mouse over the icon a very annoying info box pops up. How do I disable this popup? I'd rather have to click the icon to get the report than have the box pop up and  distract me, most often to tell me that are no problems with a web site. If there is not a way to disable the popup then I may turn this “safe web” feature off entirely because it just adds intrusive, unneeded and unwelcome "noise" to my browsing session.

Massey4,

Norton rating icons show the site safety of the links returned in search results. Green icons show site is safe and red icons show they are unsafe. Yellow for sites with annoying pop-ups.You can just ignore the sites with red icons. You don't have to mouse hover the icon and open full report.

If you still don't like site norton icons in Google search, you can disable them by turning off 'Enhance Search Engine Results' from Web Settings->Safe Web->Enhance Search Engine Results. This will just turn off rating icons in Google search results However safe web feature will be still on (Recommended). If you navigate to a unsafe site, norton status indicator in toolbar will display the warning pop-up about the site.

Well I was hoping to keep the icons and just lose the popup when my mouse accidentally touched one (I hate having to treat my search results page like a minefield, dodging things as I move across it) but I guess what you propose is the best I can do. It beats the reply I got back from Symantec East which said to turn off Safe Web entirely. You folks might want to re-think this implementation for the next generation of the product.

Hello massey4,

I understand your frustration.

However, shortly after the Safe Web icons were implemented I must have adjusted the way I navigate a search page as I rarely invoke the pop-ups any more.

Just something to consider.

I agree SUPER DUPER annoying.  Norton PLEASE make it click ONLY.  Websites themselves are SUPER DUPER annoying with the double underlined popup advertising.   An internet browser that can make that go away will be very popular.
