My subscription expires in 26 days, but I see on the website that if I renew now, the renewal begins today, not 26 days from now. So I don't want to renew until the day before the actual expiration. But NIS bugs me every day on every machine to renew.
How do I disable the renewal reminders or at least tell it not to bug me until one day before my actual expiration?
Thanks Dick. Indeed I found a much better price for the NIS 2013 product than the renewal price Norton was offering. So I bought that. As you note, installing that key will not add 366 days to my current subscription.
I'd turned off the Auto Renewal Service earlier today and will let you know if/how that decreases the frequency of renewals.
That said, if Norton doesn't want to lose customers, I'd recommend they offer a much more competitive renewal price.
If you lost many days by using a new key there's no harm in going to the Norton OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route as below and asking them to add them back in .... they have a good reputation of being nice people!
And while you are with them ask them to check that the automatic renewal has definitely been canceled and is not still on somewhere in the system since we have had reports of a charge being raised despite the user canceling although again they are quick to put that right.
Don't say it shouldn't happen ... we are dealing with computers ......

Hi jrgreenman,
I turned off autorenewal awhile ago - prior to my annual renewal coming due - as I was curious, how according to Norton I would be reminded prior to my license expiring. I already had a new license at an outstanding price waiting to be installed.
So I turned off Auto renewal - and about one week prior to my expiration date I started getting pop ups - but as I remember - only one a day and easily gotten rid of - you have to use the X in the uper righyt hand corner.
I waited until I received the 1 day left notice and entered my new product key.
Thanks for the tips Hugh. And while I always welcome a friendly and helpful customer support department, I'd suggest that customers should not have to take extra manual steps in order to have purchased days added to the subscription or double manually confirm with the support folks that the auto renewal is indeed disabled "in real life" after it has been deselected on the website. I consider those hurdles the customer should not have to overcome.
Thanks again for the tips though. I do appreciate the help.
Bear in mind regarding the difference in how additonal days are handled that when you buy a new copy cheap you are not renewing but installing a new copy so the old one is wiped out.
When you renew through Norton and pay their price then they do add the two periods together automatically.
What I said about contacting the Support team could have added that it is a concession on their part so we try not to abuse it (or them <g>)
