How do I get rid of com.symantec.nobu.nobud commands on my Mac

All of a sudden my Imac (running OSX 10.6.8) will not shutdown.  I looked at some of the commands sent to my Imac during shutdown and many are Symantec related.  At one time I had a Norton backup account through AOL and I didn't think it was still active.  One command line says com.symantec.nobu.nobud ... /Library/Application Support/Norton Online Backup/Norton Online Backup.app/Contens/MacOS/nobud : no such file or directory.  Another command line says (com.symantec.nou.nobud) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds.  How do I get rid of these commands and find out if my account on AOL is still active.  I so I would like to turn it off.
