I used online chat to give them a chance to fix this issue. He walked me through checking the setting that I already told him was turned off when I started the chat. I told him I've made that change on two PCs and continue to get ads multiple times per week on every machine I have this installed on including my kids machines. He said he needed to escalate the case and wanted a phone number. I told him I'd prefer to communicate via email and he said phone is the only option. I reluctantly gave him my phone number and await a call back. That was 8 days ago, haven't received a call yet. I'm sure all it will really do is get me on an auto-dialer list to sell me something. I'm a long time customer but won't be renewing. It makes no sense to me why I'm paying for the Norton 360 Premium suite and still being peppered with adds for additional products I need to purchase to "stay safe".
I could not have explained it any better. That's exactly how I think about NAV. Mcafee and bitdefender are also bad. They bug you to the point of being harassed. Always trying to upsell using scare tactics. Large popup AD's on my desktop when I'm offline and doing work on my computer. Right in my face as rude as can be. And as soon as you close it another one pops up. I need anti-spam software to stop getting hacked by Norton. My computer is infected with a Norton virus spam bug.
I have used Norton branded products for almost 40 years. I have installed them in my own various companies as well as those of uncounted clients. And for the most part have been happy with them. Even today, as a semi-retiree I personally have 20 licenses for NAV. But as it stands today, I will not be renewing or recommending NAV or any other NortonLifeLock product for the simple reasons stated in this thread. NAV has become a symbol of hypocrisy selling an anti-spam product that actual spams its customers. What is even more egregious is that they do it on your windows desktop! You don't even need to have a browser or mail client. Just look at the Service Notification I have attached. At best I would describe it as useless, insulting, and disrespectful. Now just try to shut them off....can't be done with the user interface. Search for user solutions on the web: thousands of complaints, no solution for these particular so-called messages. Try to ignore them and your windows 10 task bar notification area will never stop displaying the you have unread messages. Talk to a Symantec consultant....most won't know what you are talking about, but they will tell you how to stop Task Notifications which are not the same thing. They will also send you a survey request that no one at corporate will ever respond to, much less read. But that isn't unique to Symantec et al.
Simple conclusion: Why would you trust a company to protect your privacy and security when that same company considers itself exempt from those behaviors when it comes to its paid customers? You don't.
I'm in the same boat. I've had enough of these offer pop-ups. Here looking for tips of how to turn them off as the "special offer notifications" toggle has no effect. If I can't find a way, byebye Norton.
Same here. Constant notifications popup to advertise their upgrade services, despite the fact I have turned off Special Offer Notifications. Norton is going to lose customers with their constant fear mongering spam and aggressive upsell tactics. This has been an issue for years. Each time I'm about to switch, they suddenly stop, but just after I renew they seem to come back in full force. It's unbelievable.
