How do I leave Symantec like they left NRA?

I have been using Norton since the DOS days and bulletin boards. So imagine my dismay and heartbreak when today I learned that Symantec is cowardly bowing to misguided public pressure and cutting ties with the NRA.

How do I remove all traces of Symantec and Norton from my computers and Android phones without blanking out the whole system and reinstalling everything? I know from experience that just uninstalling the software from a computer does not remove all traces of Symantec. I'm not sure on Android.

Another long time user of Norton products on the way out. I have nothing to do with the NRA but I do support the U. S. Constitution. When another company makes a bad decision to get involved in trying to influence Americans then you are making a large mistake, stick to making your product. I will find another way to protect my property.

I will also be canceling my subscription. And as for this not being the place to air our views, Norton directed me to this site to do just that when I contacted them.

I've already disabled my renewal and lifelock will definitely not be used again because the same logic norton uses for discontinuing relationship with NRA is like me saying norton is at fault for a security breach at a credit card company  because they should of stopped the hacker(s) from obtaining data prior to the event happening.
I am not a NRA member but I am a gun(2) owner.
Also have done the same or in he process of removing other companies regarding this issue.
This is sad all around.

“Go celebrate the killing of children.”

Your statement is abhorrent. Still, I support your Constitutional First Amendment right to free speech. Please respect my Constitutional rights grated in the Second Amendment. Or do you decide which of my Constitutional rights I can access?

I will, this board should only be used to discuss problems and solutions for software it should not get bogged down in political discourse because it will go on forever!

Make sure you scold all of the folks on this thread as well.  I sure you want to be fair and unbiased with your criticism.

This is not the place to discuss politics, if you don't support Symantec then do as you suggested and leave.

I agree with the other posters. Norton screwed the pooch on this one. Who do they think they are catering to dropping their NRA affiliation (slight as it is) over a tragic shooting the NRA had nothing to do with? Sheesh! How idiotic can Symantec get? The NRA is not calling for a Norton boycott. I CHOOSE to take my business elsewhere. I won’t miss their frustrating billing system which has always screwed up my subscription, but I need to figure out how to transfer my password vault, then I’m gone.

Absolutely. But try to argue with liberals who believe that the NRA is the root cause of all gun violence in America, and all of its members want to harm children and cause general mayhem.  I tried weighing in on a different thread on this forum that was in support of this action, and the far left's intolerance and hypocrisy was on full display.  I find it disgusting that Symantec's "bold" decision is being heralded when in fact it is a sad act of cowardice.  Another company that has lost its way and made the fatal decision to wade into the political cesspool.  They should really stick to making decent products and embracing as many customers as they can, not alienating them.

The NRA had nothing to do with the incident in Florida. Several agencies failed to do the job that they were tasked to do. Sad to see Symantec take the low road. I am removing auto renew and will be looking for another solution for my businesses and personal devices. I support the 2nd amendment. I support the NRA but never a member…until today.

Time to remove my Norton & not renew. Lot's of other options out there that want my business and not interfere with my freedoms. SCREW NORTON.

I am with you.  I've been in the IT industry for over 25 years and have made hundreds of thousands of dollars of investments in Symantec products. No more.

I have been a dedicated Norton user since 2007. I was saddened to see them involving themselves with politics. They now punish law abiding gun owners, the ones who do NOT shoot up schools, and therefor by default, they support the other side, the thugs and law breakers who DO shoot kids and who never cared for the law anyway.

I am very disappointed with Symantec. Why would any business think they take any sorts of moral high ground on issues that has nothing to do with the product they sell? It is plain stupidity. They cast themselves with the people on the left who are the root cause of school shootings but who also claim the moral high ground, but who are far from it.

This is a sad day indeed.

OK, thanks for the reply and link. I will try that. I just purchased McAfee Security and will install it once I get done with the cleanup of Symantec.

P.S. Dear Symantec, attached is a copy of my receipt to McAfee I think I have convinced 27 people so far to do the same as me. Goodbye.

If you want as clean an uninstall as you are asking about, start by downloading and running the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool and use the Advanced option to Remove Only.    www.norton.com/nrt

Then you will have to go into Windows Explorer and search your drives for Norton and Symantec. Then do the same in the Windows registry.

Good luck.
