I have just recently changed my router to one with a built-in proxy with filtering etc. How do I tell Online family to use the proxy? I cannot find any settings and I know its not using the system proxy settings in the PC.
Using the internet works, but online family cannot check for updates etc.
Will I get proxy options options if I re-install it?
Thanks
NB I have set those two addresses as exceptions in the proxy, so online family will always get through the proxy, but at the moment its not trying to go through the proxy, its trying to get a direct connection which is being blocked by the firewall.
1. Does the program monitor/record and block Web activities at Activity -> Web when if you use the router with a built-in proxy?
Online family works correctly in this regard
2. What happens (you see) that makes you think Online Family doesn't go though a proxy?
When I right-click on it and tell it to update house rules it tells me it can't do it after a long wait. The router/proxys firewall log shows an attempt to use port 80. If I allow port 80 and port 443 through the router/proxys firewall it can update house rules.
The router/proxy proxy details are 192.168.2.100:8080 (non-transparent)
3. When you said "online family cannot check for updates", what updates are you referring to, the updates for Norton Safety Minder?
Yes, see previous question
4. Also, when you said "I have set those two addresses as exceptions in the proxy", what exact addresses are you referring to?
spoc.norton.com o2comm.norton.com
These were give somewhere else in the forum as ones used for updates etc
5. Have you tried to unblock the category of "Web proxies" at Settings -> Web online to see if it helps?
