Everything you did is identical to the steps I took. However when I get to Step 6 I get the response "Login Failed". I don't know what else to tell you. I can log into my Norton account from every direction except the the one identified in your first image, "Login to Norton Account".
I really appreciate your efforts. Shame you couldn't replicate my problem.
This is for both you and Prasanna: What would happen if I tried to login to Identity Safe Cloud from a different computer than the one I've been using? What would I have to do to be sure that I didn't wipe out the password data file in my Norton Account? If I could be sure that I wouldn't wipe out the data file I could see if the login issue is limited to the computer I've been using. Also, if I could login I could then back up my most current password file and use it locally.
It certainly won't do any harm in trying to log into your Norton Account & ID Safe from another computer. This is why the feature was added so that multiple computers can use the same ID safe. So by all means, give that a try.
I'm not sure what to make of it since it did work for me.
The only other thought which comes to mind is perhaps the Symantec server in the region where you are located is having some problem. Can you tell us the general region where you live. Nothing too specific, even say something like West Coast USA, etc. I could then check with Symantec about that possibility.
Very interesting outcome using the second computer. When I tried to login I got the Syncing message for about 2 minutes. Then a box popped up saying "A network error is preventing access to your Norton Account. Please check your computer's Internet connectivity and try again." On the original computer it immediately gives me the message "Login Failed..."
I can assure you both computers are connected to the Internet.
Thanks very much for the update. Chicago area is close enough. I just needed the general area so I can ask Symantec about any possibility of a problem with the server in that general area.
I'm passing this information on to Symantec and either Prasanna or I will update further when we have something.
I agree, very interesting about the test with the second computer. Not sure why the first one did not give you that same error message. Curious, is this the first time you have attempted to log on to this Norton account with the second computer? If so that might explain it since it would not have any cookies or anything else for that website.
I've passed your exact quote on to Symantec regarding your test with the second computer. It sure does sound like a temporary server problem and this + your general region should hopefully allow Symantec to more quickly figure out what the problem is.
In answer to your question; yes, it was the first time in a very long while I'd logged into my Norton account on computer #2. But the exact same message appeared when I tried it again later. Then I went back to computer #1 and immediately got the failed login message. There's definitely a difference in what happens between the two computers.
I still don't have access to my online Identity Safe and can't sign into my Norton Account through the Identity Safe login box. Prasanna are you still working on this or has everyone given up?
